Lilly Travieso
Lilly developed a love for sports at an early age, participating in various athletic activities before discovering her passion for softball. As her dedication to the sport grew, she set her sights on playing collegiate softball at a prestigious university. Achieving this goal required tremendous physical, mental, and academic commitment, along with perseverance in overcoming numerous challenges.
Throughout her athletic journey, Lilly developed valuable leadership skills both on and off the field. Her dedication to softball provided opportunities to compete across the United States and internationally, including in Cuba. She also had the honor of representing Puerto Rico as a member of its Junior Olympic softball team.
Lilly is deeply grateful for the opportunities she has received and the unwavering support, encouragement, and guidance of her parents. Recognizing the importance of access to resources, mentorship, and opportunities, she became passionate about ensuring that other young female athletes, particularly Latinas, could experience the same support and encouragement that helped shape her journey. This passion became the inspiration behind the creation of the ELLA Sports Foundation.
Lilly continued her pursuit of academic and professional excellence, graduating from Cornell University in 2020 with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology. She further advanced her education at George Washington University, earning a Master's degree in Business, along with certificates in Marketing and Sports Management.
Currently, Lilly serves as a Program Manager for the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy, where she contributes to programs that empower young athletes through baseball, softball, education, and youth development. Her professional role allows her to combine her passion for sports with her commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for young people, particularly those from underserved communities.
Her unique combination of athletic experience, academic achievement, and professional leadership reflects her dedication to empowering the next generation. As Co-Founder of ELLA Sports Foundation, Lilly remains committed to inspiring young Latina athletes to pursue higher education, develop their leadership potential, and achieve success both on and off the field. Her journey embodies ELLA's mission of developing strong, confident Latina leaders who will positively impact their communities and establish their own legacies.
